Innovation in Action - Our Vision

The Next Generation Matters: For more than a century, Cox Enterprises has successfully evolved. Our vision has always been about the next generation — businesses, employees, customers, community and family. Our willingness to innovate and make smart bets is a Cox tradition. Because we are family — owned and privately held, our company has had the freedom to make bold, wise investments and seek new growth opportunities. We are constantly asking, “Now, what’s next?”

Vision

Governor Cox always believed in putting his investments back into the business to spur growth — a philosophy and commitment we still advocate at Cox Enterprises.

Cox has a strong interest in companies that are disruptive to existing technologies and business practices. The Cox Innovation Fund was created in 2013 as an ongoing collaboration by Jim Kennedy, chairman of Cox Enterprises, and entrepreneur and Cox Board member Tripp Rackley. Our goal is to bolster new business opportunities that seek to render existing technology obsolete.

“Cox dispels the myth that big companies can’t innovate. Cox Innovation Fund was created in eight days, from idea to implementation. Cox has the added benefit of being a private company. Rather than pressure from the stock market to show quarterly gains, Cox has the commitment from its family shareholders to invest in new ideas.”

“Greening our operations and supporting environmental nonprofits creates long- term environmental and fiscal sustainability. We all have a responsibility — corporations, nonprofits, public sectors and individuals — to create a sustainable environment for future generations.”

— Chairman Jim Kennedy
